UBX is owned 100% by local shareholders. Umoja Switch Company Limited — a company owned 100% by 10 commercial banks — owns a 65% stake in the company, while individual Tanzanians own 35%.

Our history

Since 2000.

UBX was formerly known as Business Connexion Tanzania Ltd (BCX).

2000Begins serving the Tanzanian and neighbouring countries market.
2006Then Business Connexion Tanzania (BCX), invests in a shared financial services ecosystem, starting with the inter-bank payment switch infrastructure known as UmojaSwitch — four banks operating ten ATMs across six regions.
2021Wins Best Financial Technology Company at the Tanzania ICT Awards, as BCX.
TodayOperating as UBX Tanzania Limited, with a switching network that integrates 18 banks.
